Abstract

The case IBM: Beyond Knowledge…? shows how presidents Louis Gerstner and Samuel Palmisano managed and influence a positive change in people, its values and know-how so that IBM recover its leadership in the global market. IBM begins to generate knowledge, managing to be one of the businesses that has registered more patents in the last decade in the U.S. The case also shows dilemmas if the investigation and the knowledge acquired by the businesses has served or not to improve the quality of life of humanity.
